Welcome to PURPOSE 4

Our priority is finding ways to help protect against HIV.

It's important for everyone to have HIV prevention options that work for them. PURPOSE 4 is a clinical trial that will help us understand if an investigational PrEP medicine, lenacapavir, can be used to help prevent HIV for people who inject drugs.

PURPOSE 4 has completed enrollment and is currently in progress. We look forward to publishing the results of this study soon!

First, people who inject drugs deserve HIV prevention options that work for them. PURPOSE 4 will provide an opportunity to help develop more PrEP options without judgment or requiring you to stop drug use.

Second, this is a chance to help change how medical research is done.

Most HIV prevention trials have not included people who inject drugs even though this community has been disproportionately affected by HIV. It’s time to change that. We are committed to developing HIV prevention strategies that can benefit everyone.
